對於台灣要和索馬利蘭互設代表處，已引起許多索馬利亞到不滿，並出征“外交部”臉書。索馬利亞網友們表示，「i live in hargeysa and i say to you if we are simaliland we are part of somali「Somaliland is a adminstrative rigion.And 80%of its pple want to be part of somalia」、「We are Somalia ,Somaliland not a country and Taiwan not a country .whats outcome? It is daily dream and lies to entertain the people of both parties」，甚至還有索國網友用中文留言，「索馬里蘭是索馬里的一部分，我們敦促您停止干預索馬里，索馬里人是一個，我們沒有分開」。
